I love how this book gave me déjà vu. I think that’s exactly what the second installment of a time travel novel should do. I’m especially impressed with how the author managed to do it without it feeling redundant. I found myself cross referencing my highlights in the previous book in the hopes of finding clues about the intricacies of time travel in their world. I had the feeling that something was off from the start. I’m impressed with how the author managed to pull off such a feat. Things truly were not as they seemed and the plot twists were impressive.
I remember being frustrated by the miscommunication between characters. I could not for the life of me make sense of two of the characters. I was only able to understand one of them by the end of the book. The last chapter felt like it was copied and pasted felt from a draft of book three and didn’t fit properly. The contrast was jarring.
The author manages to answer questions one might have from book one while presenting new mysteries. Upon completion of the book I found myself thinking about time travel paradoxes presented in other six-fi novels (by authors like Ted Chiang and Blake Crouch). I think the series is re-read worthy and I am looking forward to the third book.

Great sequel but I hated the scene were Dorothy talked about piping someone’s ear drum. That ship stayed with me. I can’t stop thinking about it.
