Mystery of it all was okay. Some things were kind of random, and it didn’t really resolve it just kind of ended

I liked the concept and the beginning of the book felt like maybe it was going to be good. However, there were too many POVs without enough character development or connection. It totally fell flat and the ending was pointless. I also felt like the author was trying to be inclusive but came off as homophobic to me several times.

“Very Bad Company” by Emma Rosenblum is a good read for anyone who is looking for an easygoing mystery thriller. This book follows a company who is having their yearly corporate retreat and murder follows. The reader is taken on a journey of “who did it?”, as we learn more about the employees and history behind the company.

Super fast read but I’m not going to remember this book because it didn’t have a very big impact on me. The characters are flawed, but they’re all bad together (except angel Debra!), so none of their actions really have consequences. Describing this as a mystery is a stretch. I would have liked more details at the end.

Haha, I don’t know - I liked it! Sometimes I need a not-that-deep book in between the other tearjerkers and great art (last couple ones: This Summer Will Be Different and Colton Gentry’s Third Act, respectively) and this was the perfect palate cleanser. Rich people behaving badly, a not-very-surprising murder mystery plot, no character development (all intentional!!). I think Emma Rosenblum’s writing is funny and perceptive and even a little sexy, and it’s fun for me to live in this awful world she builds (so different than my own for so extremely many reasons, haha) for a little bit. I liked Bad Summer People too and I’ll definitely read her in the future!

Review: If you're looking for a super quick book to read about a lot of super shady people with not a lot of redeeming qualities, look no further! It's not one that will stick with me forever, but I think it would be perfect for a pool or beach read. (Kinda gave me Katherine St. John vibes? Lion's Den/The Siren)

I was hoping for a bit more satire at sticking with the corporate lingo / events while everything is falling down around them, but it had just enough seriousness to it that I couldn't really say I got that satirical fun out of it.
