Grow Food for Free: The easy, sustainable, zero-cost way to a plentiful harvest by Huw Richards

This seems like a good introduction to fruit and vegetable gardening with an emphasis on permaculture and upcycling materials. The plans for how to build out year-by-year are great to help you focus on where to begin. The books is written from a UK perspective, which I could not tell from the description (though maybe shortening vegetables to "veg" should have tipped me off), so while the principles are solid if you are American like me you probably need to make some local adjustments on growing season and such.

I found this book helpful as it was divided into clear sections discussing annuals, perennials, pest, starting your garden etc. It seems to be geared for people living in the UK but it gives great advice for raised beds, small containers and garden vegetable plots as well as how to source plants for free. Great introduction.
