It astounds me how coherent this collection is. All the poems are connected (elk, splitting, god, smoke, and more ideas reappear), yet each poem has something new to say.

Another Way to Split Water is a beautiful and lyrical collection of poetry. The use of water imagery was consistent and striking, especially in the first half. The poets pining for her roots and parts of her identity whether that be in Canada, Tanzania or India was palpable. Family and religious identity also came through strongly. But for me - a novice reader of poetry who undoubtedly misses more than I understand - it was the language and imagery that grabbed my attention and held it throughout. I would have loved to have had more time so I could linger with this collection.
