I read the critiques this book...and just didn't bother....but friends read and loved it....so I decided to give it a chance.
I don't care if this is poorly written poetry....or not poetry....or the best thing since Dylan Thomas. This poems resonated with me and I truly enjoyed them and had me thinking.

I will return to this book again and again.

Read if you need a change of thoughts.

This short thoughts are extremely powerful. However, although the content of the poems is very beautiful, I find their 'poetic shape' pretty mediocre.

I’m not crying if you don’t notice it.

Was it really deep or life changing? No. But I did enjoy it. 7.2/10.

(Sep update: I read ‘The sun and her flowers’ today and it was so terrible I had to re skim this, I took it down from 5 stars to 4 and 9.7 to 7.2, it’s not horrible but it’s not incredible.)

Milk and Honey has been recommended to me for some time and I am glad to have finally gotten my hands on it. I read it in one sitting - as one does when they find themselves completely enthralled by a book - and have come to the conclusion that Rupi Kaur's collection of poems reflects perfectly the heartaches and growth all women seem to experience in life.

Although at times the writing and depictions seemed cliche (for lack of a better term), there were most certainly passages that were undeniably relatable. Although my heartstrings were tugged in a bittersweet way, and old memories I thought I'd banished for good resurfaced, I feel that this collection of poetry is a wonderful read for any woman at any stage in her life.

Beautiful & raw. Rupi Kaur's poetry is a balm for the soul.

Did not finish. What is this emo shit. Should come with trigger warnings for rape, domestic abuse, incest, etc.

Some of it is not horrible, like the one about the pregnant mom.

But I could not stand the rest. It's like the stuff you see on Tumblr in a typewriter font, over a moodily filtered photo. Sorry!
