Pretty cliche and painfully cisheteronormative at times. Beautifully written though.

A beautiful poetry book where the emotions and struggle comes out clearly on every page. The line drawings add to the book but still keep the focus on the words. Some of these are just so powerful I think I'll use them in collage art journals. These books must take so much strength from the author to write and publish.

I went into this book blind, and I was not expecting that. Towards the beginning it was just kind of okay but a bit towards the end there were a couple of good quotes.

I've seen a bunch of people make fun of these poems since this was released years ago so my expectations weren't that high to begin with. But it's literally not even poetry most of the time, she's just stating things. Thanks to Wikipedia, I know that's her style but like. seriously? I could do better than that. I had to skip the long paragraphs too. I just wasn’t interested in anything else but getting thru it so I can catch up on my reading goal.
"baby lick me" and "manhood" made me cringe so hard that I had to take off .5 stars from the 2 star rating I'd established about a third of the way thru.
