This is good for an independent reader, a little lack-luster for a read-aloud.

This was our read aloud last week and the kids really enjoyed it. I thought it was an inferior knockoff of The Borrowers, but sometimes you just want something adventurous and easy to digest. Once I let go of my snobbery about it, I ended up enjoying it. The artwork is really cute and there’s a knitting grandmother in it, which also helps!
I recently learned that there’s a whole series of these books and it looks like our library has them, so we might meander through the titles and read a few more when we’re inbetween other read alouds.

I read this series when I was a child and remember being very fond of the books, rereading the ones I owned. I am now reading them to my 4- almost-5-year-old and he loves them. The books have a decent amount of drawings to keep a younger child interested and the stories really spark his imagination. He's built houses for the "tinies" in Duplo, bristle block, and tinker toys.

Read this in 2nd or 3rd grade and loved it. Just reread it to my kids and it held up beautifully! What a little gem of a book!

Am leading the fall book club for A's class and this is the assigned book. I remember this being a favorite of mine when I was younger! Excited to talk about it with 4th graders in November.

This was a very quick read with lots of pictures and a cute story. My 4 year old especially liked it.

I love the Littles!
They’re resourceful, efficient, considerate, grateful, loving, and they have tails!
So much fun to revisit a childhood favorite.

My 7 and 4 year old enjoyed this one much more than I enjoyed reading it aloud to them. I thought there just wasn't much plot and would have liked to explore the Littles world much more. My kids enjoyed the intense encounters with mice and the family cat. They would like me to read all the sequels now, but I will probably let them read those on their own. Cute story, but just okay.
