This would be a great classroom book. I loved how it's divided into topics, it would be a great way to assign projects!

Just as strong as their other book, We Are Grateful: Otsaliheliga. Although, I did enjoy the narrative structure of the first book a bit more. Z read this with her class as a read-aloud. Concepts definitely require some adult explanation, especially for one as young as V. Excellent back matter. I appreciate that each illustration is based on a real event, and that the information is provided in the back matter.

A well done book for children (and adults too) to learn about the history of Native Americans. I recommend this one for everyone!

This nonfiction text needs to be in every classroom and every library. Let's start teaching truths and not the myths. No more whitewashing history, young readers need accurate information.
I love the format Sorell uses in telling these truths - through presentations at a school. So well done.

Oh, the backmatter!!! This nonfiction book is beautifully done by the team from We Are Grateful: Otsaliheliga! And it is full of valuable information to help kids know and understand Native history in the U.S., along with extensive backmatter that provides context for much of what is missing from the typical curriculum and history books. A must-have picture book for all elementary schools!

Excellent nonfiction book for young leaders telling parts of the native story in an accessible and interesting way. This history is often left out of traditional texts.
