Though I can see an interesting story within it, Atonement is a slog to read, with an ending which ruins most of the book

This is a mostly solid read, some of the characters do wallow a bit much for my taste, and overall it's just a quite tragic taste. A bit slow for me, and I personally don't love it when the book turns out to be written by one of the characters. That's just a bit cheap and overused by now, if you ask me.
