I think my main problem with this book was that Castello was supposed to be a mafia boss. Yes, he was thrown into the role unexpectedly, but he'd grown up in the life. People disrespected him and yet he did nothing about it until nearly the end.

The writing was good, and that's why it's getting three stars. I just didn't like the plot, some things felt repetitive (the darkness and her crying all the time) Tatum did however grow a tiny backbone near the end.

I guess I like my men stronger and my women to rival them. I wasn't feeling it with this story. It dragged on a little for me until 70% when anything really started happening.

Tatum wakes and can’t believe the face she sees isn’t Carlo’s that he’s dead, and Castello is going to use her for his sick game of revenge, seeing her family as the reason Carlo was dead. Tatum soon realises that the only way she can have a chance at survival is to fight Castello at every turn and show him that she’s not the little mouse that he thinks she is.
Castello realises the more he watched her the more the monster inside him wanted her but watching her he realised his little mouse wanted to fight him and he was going to play.
Tatum couldn’t understand how she could want him, but knew he was having the same problem, he more he wanted her, he knew he shouldn’t, but she called to his dark side. Tatum know that she didn’t want to say Castello was right, but being kidnapped and meeting Castello, all her dark desires had come back that she’d kept hidden.
Tatum knows it’s wrong, she was heart-broken about Carlo’s, but she couldn’t help the draw she had to Castello, Castello knew she was forbidden but she fed all his dark desires. They soon realise as much as they are fighting their own desires, there biggest battle is about to begin.

Unfortunately I was unable to finish this book. It has nothing to do with the story as it seem really promising. I'm just finding myself very distracted and unable to fully immerse myself into the book right now.

I will be shelving it until I feel like I can finish.

Oh what a tangled web that was weaved. This book is chocked full of all kinds of dark and twisty things. What can I say is you must read this!! There are so many secrets that this family may not recover.

Castello became the head of the family when tragedy struck within. He does what he believes is the right thing. Tatum is a woman who thought she was loved, but finds out the hard way that it wasn't love. The feelings that start to brew is difficult for the both of them to deal with. Castello knows just what to do to drive Tatum insane, and in return Tatum knows exactly what buttons to push.

If you like a good Mafia story with a lot of dark elements, a hero stuck between a rock and hard place, and a heroine literally stuck then you'll enjoy this book.
