I didn’t hate reading it but I didn’t particularly feel anything either. It was such a quick pace read that I didn’t really have much time to care for the characters. If they were sad, it ended before I could empathize. If they were happy, it wasn’t fully shown why so I didn’t tingle with joy for them as a couple either. The ending also left something (not sure what) to be desired.

Read for the Sbooktober readathon.

This was every single thing that I want and adore in a romance novel!

I loved the Cinderella and Mask themes used throughout. The idea of conflict in there was intriguing, but not a huge barrier overall.

The villain was well written in that he was also quite human and I liked the family dynamics. I do wish there had been more scenes with the family in general, but this story covered a lot of ground in a short amount of time, so that's understandable.

Nelle as a character was particularly important in that she wasn't written as a simple damsel or without flaw. I really enjoyed her characterization quite a bit.

The sex scenes between them were steamy without being explicit, which is a fine line for my personal taste as a reader.
