Chapter one of this book cold-opened with a first-person passage of a cop fantasizing about CW: gun violence

shooting and killing someone with their police weapon

in the grocery store because the person was slow in the checkout line. No matter the point about overwhelm being made, I certainly think that experience could have been relayed more sensitively to the reader.
