When I reached 30% of this book, I realized this book has suspense mystery on it. Not just romance. From the blurp it is promising. I thought this is about second change romance. But again I thought it wrong.
I am not against suspense mystery mix with romance. But I do not like this book at all because of Alexa. She is a super annoying. I feel that she only becomes tough if dealing with people she feels she is superior. Like her sister and her mother. But other people, she becomes a very annoying damsel in distress. So annoying I want to shoot her.

Now Drake is another character. He has every aspect of perfect book boyfriend. Loyal, protective, romantic. Even after 2 years he was dumped by Alexa, he still pinning for her. What a man! So I give this book 3 stars because of Drake.
The rest..... not working with me. Toward the end of this book, I don't really care who is the culprit.

The beginning of this book was very slow for me, but halfway through I really started to enjoy this book. I can't wait to read the next installment of the series :)

Alexa left town two years ago after the death of her father and receiving a letter telling her to end things with her boyfriend, Drake Foster. Now she has returned to Skagway with her friend, Dr. Hollis Fritz to open up a medical clinic.

Unfortunately once Alexa sees Drake she realizes that she still has feelings for him and she must deal with explaining the past.

Soon Alexa realizes there is something more sinister going on in Skagway around land that is wanted by Milano Incorporation and land that she received from her father. As Alexa and Drake get further involved in the mystery will they be able to figure out everything before someone else gets hurt?

This was such a great book with lots of twists and turns to keep you wondering what is going to happen next.

I loved Alexa and I completely understood why she ran from Skagway with her heart broken. She was a great character and I felt bad for everything she was going through with her sister and her mother. I liked her determination and value for holding onto what was most important to her.

I thought Drake was great as well and he knew something had to have happened for Alexa to leave him two years ago when he thought everything was going good. He still loved Alexa and was willing to do whatever it took to get her back.

I loved watching secrets getting revealed and getting deeper into the mystery behind the land and also the cruelness of her sister and mother. There was also something going on with Alexa's best friend Teagan and I was curious to see how everything would play out.

I loved all of the twists and turns and I was super curious how everything was going to play out. The book did not disappoint at all with all of the secrets being revealed and I could not put down the book!!

I loved the relationship between Drake and Alexa and how they were able to figure everything out by being honest with each other and diving deeper into the past. My heart definitely broke a few times with things that were revealed.

The end was awesome and I was totally shocked at a few things and I was so happy at how things ended and I really hope we get more from these characters!!

3.5 stars but I'll round up..

Two years apart with no closure and now they almost just pick back up right where they left off almost immediately? I could have used a little more angst with them rekindling what they had before. But while the romance part of the book took off too fast, the plot itself seemed a little slow going. Then about 1/2 way through the pace picked up and I enjoyed the second half of the book a lot more than the first half. There was an element of suspense, that was honestly the best part of the book. Then with Drake's family and their playful jabs and Hollis determined to become a real Alaskan man the book had some laughter in there too. Yet I didn't fall in love with Alexis - I never really connected to her. I did like how protective Drake was over her though. Anyway, turned out a fair read.

Thank you FB suggestions!

Alexa and Drake were so in love. He supported her choice to go to college. They have more history than anyone could imagine. But after her father's funeral, Alexa gets a letter. She breaks her heart and Drake's. For two years she stayed away due to college. But now that she's decided to open a clinic in her hometown, it's tougher to go unnoticed. Drake is THE perfect gentleman with a little bit of an alpha male. It's the perfect combo. Two years and he's even more handsome than Alexa remembered. It didn't take long for them to get back to where they once were. When they had everything talked out it seemed as if nothing could go wrong. So we think.

I loved this. This was a second chance romance that should have never been. Alexa and Drake were everything that embodied a couple.

Intoxicated by You by Kristin Mayer is a contemporary romance that I really enjoyed. I havnt read this author before but I found it an intriguing story that I both couldn’t wait to finish but was dreading coming to an end.
I loved Drake and Alexa both individually and together. Their story was amazing with so many ups and downs and the characters that have been built around them just added to the depth of the story.
It was sweet, intense, swoony and thrilling. A great read.

The one thing you can be guaranteed when you read a Kristin Mayer book? That is pure magic. She delivers something so amazing that is wrapped up in epic passion, intrigue and suspense. The whole concept of this story blew me away and I found that it was something I could not put down. The pain that Lex and Drake went through to find their way back together. Their passion never waivered. Their love never faltered. Then they are thrusted into this insane mystery that comes full circle and ends up with a bang. The beautiful thing about this story is that is one epic second chance romance that leaves you begging for more.
Overall, this story blew me out of the water. It was unique and beautiful and had a brilliant back story. The side characters also added so much to the story. Between Drake’s brothers, Hello Kane belongs to me, then you have Hollis, I died laughing or swooning. These men are amazing and Mayer’s words flow stunningly. Her build and everything. It is just one of those books you cannot help but get wrapped up in! I highly recommend it to anyone!
