A fun read if you have read The Shining- as a group of young people try to save their town by keeping the Underlook Hotel from being destroyed by Jack Axworth, the horror king.  The artwork is great.  If you haven't read The Shining, the story is fine.  I'm not sure how the target audience (who are too young to have read the book or seen the movie) would find this - for me it worked.

Welcome to Underlook Hotel (yes, Overlook Hotel, just different)! Welcome to a week of mysterious things and tons of filming.

I absolutely loved the Shining (the movie though, the book I haven’t yet dared to open because Stephen King is really hit/miss with stuff), and I was excited about this book. We are going to the Underlook Hotel. With a twist. Jack is alive. He and Danny are living there and having an OK life.

This was okay. I finished it, but I really struggled to get through it. The story was rambling and had a lot going on. There were some clear horror influences, including a couple of "cameos", but I honestly don't think the target audience for this book would even catch all of the references.

3.5/5 stars. It was fun! The ending threw me a bit for a loop, but I still enjoyed it. Little spoof on The Shinning for kids, which is fun. Love anything film related, so I enjoyed it and liked the cartooning style too. Wish there was a little more horror or scare-factor, though understand it’s a kids GN

It was fine. It was The Shining, basically. But a little different. Wasn’t bad, wasn’t great. It was fine.
