This book is not something that I would typically enjoy. But what I found out while I was reading it was that it was exactly the right book at the right time. I enjoyed this story thoroughly. I was invested in the various characters and how they interacted. And I enjoyed the small mystery in the end quite a bit. I definitely recommend this book as an easy read but also one that’s got some fairly heavy material.

I am utterly baffled by the popularity of this book.

There are so, so, SO many things wrong with it I don’t even know where to begin.

Lines like ‘he was holding his fork like a child or an American’ - I’m sorry? What? Holding a fork like an American?

Eleanor’s ‘transformation’ as a result of some new clothes, a haircut and Bobbi Brown make over was incredulous and a complete tired trope.

All of the characters were complete buffoon characuteurs. I found them ridiculous and poorly written. The narrative became increasingly tedious.

Don’t get me started on the swiftly swept under the rug ‘twist’.

I’m not sure what I was expecting from this but it wasn’t writing duller than a blunt pencil.

If I could give this book more stars I would. One of the best books I have ever read.
Eleanor is a women with a lot of baggage and I wish I could give her a hug. A really good and wholesome person. I loved reading about her will of life and how non caring she is of what other people think. And why she thinks they are the one making the wrong choices but somehow calling her weird.
Eleanor is not fine but she will be.

I simply didn't know how to make things better. I could not solve the puzzle of me.
