Good book by Eule. Cindi and Tara's relationship is cute and funny at times. The relationship between Cindi and her grandmother is adorable. I liked how Tara makes Cindi comfortable in her skin! The spicy parts were good too.

Star rating. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

4 stars. This was incredibly sweet and full of charm and humor. I really enjoyed it. All of the characters are so lovely and I loved the chemistry between Cindi and Tara. They are both such adorable and quirky characters and I really enjoyed watching them fall for each other. This was a quick read but it was a lot of fun and very romantic and well written. It was a great pick me up.

Cindi’s had a crush on her childhood friend Tara forever and it turns out that it’s mutual. When Tara invites her to the university’s Valentine’s ball, Cindi wants to say yes but all sorts of questions come up. How will she afford a dress? And will she feel comfortable showing off her body in said dress? This is where her Gran, Miss Havisham, comes in.

This isn’t your usual Valentine’s Day novella. This shouldn’t come as a surprise since the author is Eule Grey. It’s sweet and full of love but it’s also quirky and unexpected. There’s a lot happening in such a short story, not so much as far as the plot is concerned but in all the themes it highlights: Cindi’s struggles with loving her body, the rich girl/poor girl aspect of the relationship, the pressure to excel Tara faces while Cindi’s expected to fail. All topics that could make this story dark instead of the light and sweet as cotton candy love cloud Grey gives us.

A huge thank you to the team at Booksirens, and the author, Eule Grey for gifting me with a review copy of Miss Havisham Says Yes. This review is entirely voluntary, and all opinions are my own.

For a novella, this delivered everything that was promised: a sapphic Cinderella story but the writing fell extremely short of what I wanted. Whilst I blitzed through this in low-key 30 minutes, (it was like 40 pages) I did find myself stumbling over the frankly bizarre word choices. The language was a bit too metaphorical/purple prose for me, and it really destroyed the immersion into the tale

Also, the formatting of the EPUB received was without chapter breaks and awkward, so I really debated putting this down after chapter one.

This is a really character-driven novel, and you could find yourself caring about them as the tale went on. I also liked how the characters weren't typical cliches, and each one of them had personalities that could be shown in the tale. The characters are the reason this is a two-star read, it would've been higher if the formatting/writing had been better, still perfect for a quick read though.
