I have had this book for years and didn't feel compelled to read it until I found myself between books. It opens with a young couple leaving a baby on a doorstep - well actually outside a garage. Quite a hook. The characters are all flawed which is a plus for me.

Accurate Rating: 3.5 Stars
I enjoyed this book. It was a sweet story with some unexpected hidden twists. The ending wasn'y my favorite, but I think it was at least somewhat realistic.

Novel about a young man who finds an abandoned baby and his rich employer. Has some nice plot twists and characters but I wasn’t enamored overall.

Maybe 3.5 stars?
The entire premise of the book requires a suspension of disbelief--that a baby would be dropped off (in contemporary times) at a random home, or that a random worker would decide to said baby in and raise it as his own. That being said, I was on board with this but found my enthusiasm waning rapidly in the book's final 60 pages. The seams really started showing, and the ending was a big disappointment, although again, because of the book's premise, I'm not sure how else it realistically could have gone.
The "twists" are telegraphed pretty early on, which I didn't mind. This book reminded me a little of a less cerebral Marilynne Robinson novel. It's less focused on plot and more interested in the characters' interior lives. That being said, peripheral characters were really under-developed and the character of Nadine is treated as a stereotype.

A sweet, touching story. My grandmother borrowed it after I read it, and she's really liking it, too. :)
