This book gave me a lot more anxiety than I would have liked when I began it. I put it down, not wanting to know what was in store for Abra, but I'm glad I picked it back up again. This book has reminded me s lot that God has a bigger plan for me than I have myself. God is good! I think sometimes I forget to listen, and this book definitely reminded me of that.

Bridge to Haven is, in true [a:Francine Rivers|6492|Francine Rivers|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1358956670p2/6492.jpg] fashion, a story of redemption. Abra, the main character, has had a life that makes it difficult for her to believe anyone loves her. Unfortunately, this belief also defines Abra's connection to God. In Bridge to Haven, the reader goes with Abra on a journey to find the love she so desperately wants.

What I liked: As alluded to above, Francine Rivers can write a redemption story, which I just so happen to love. Knowing this about the author makes the story a bit predictable, but I did not mind because the predictability was broken up by unexpected details that made the story richer. During the second half of the book I could not put it down. I hoped (and expected) the redemption, but wanted to see how it would happen! I also enjoyed the setting of the book, which is in the 1950s.

What I didn't: My main annoyance with this book were the descriptions of Dylan in particular. Some of the things he said or what Abra thought about him seemed so cheesy to me. However, that is admittedly a small detail in a great book. It is still a winner for me. I hope to see a sequel, as the ending is set up perfectly for the story to continue.

I recommend this for fans of inspirational fiction, along the lines of Karen Kingsbury, Lori Wick, etc. I would suggest a more mature audience, as some of the themes are fairly intense (similar to Redeeming Love).

Super fast read. This was my 2nd Francine Rivers book and I like her content. Parts of the book were slow, otherwise I would have given 4 stars. If you like Christian books, I recommend this one!

This was an incredible story full of twists and turns - I was surprised several times, and the story was ultimately very satisfying. I love a happy ending.

This is an excellent story about finding love and redemption! Abra was abandoned at birth and has never felt like she "fit" anywhere her whole life. The story weaves itself seamlessly and is a quick and easy read. It's a great story.

Story about how a pastor rescued an abandoned baby, she grows up feeling rejected, falls for wrong guy, live a rebellious lifestyle and it’s similar to prodigal son’s story with how her family welcomes her home. I can relate to Abra, I think many women can, until they surrender to Jesus we will never have peace. I liked that the author gave explanation for the story from Ezekiel 16, how God loves us unconditionally despite us forsaking Him, forgetting who our first love is

This was a jarring picture depicting our rebellion against God's desire to have a relationship with him. A good reminder of His unconditional love and his desire just for us to come home.

The story was engaging, the writing was great!

I used to love Francine Rivers but it’s been awhile since I read some of her books so I don’t know if my tastes have changed or if the last 2 books by her just weren’t her best - similar to the Masterpiece, I just felt like it dragged on when you knew how it would end.
