Interesting . Felt more focused on the magic and the anti-heist plot. No real romance. “Baddies” was overused and made it feel less mature. I quickly tired of reading the word.

Also some typos distracted from the overall.

Great detailAnd character building

I am so curious to see who she will end up with , I can’t wait to see her grow through the books.

I didn't get very far into this one. Just wasn't for me.

Interesting story line

I liked the characters and the story line. At times it feels like a lot is focused on the magic and it becomes monotonous. I do like trying to figure out who will be in the harem with it being slow burn its a mystery. Only one kiss occurs at the end. I like that she is strong and confident. I'll definitely keep reading the series.

It was so…cringe

I read through some previous reviews before I decided to jot down my thoughts and I can see why some people might not like this book, but it definitely kept my attention. For someone looking for romance there is actually very little of it in this first book, not even basic flirting - I'm hoping that is to come in further books. That's very strange for a reverse harem book. There's a lot of hinting to the relationships that may form and I've already picked my top matches but there's not real indication of where it's going to go except for one that becomes clear at the very end of the book.

The book is very technical on the magic side but I didn't mind it and enjoyed it a little. The main character is a little egotistical but it seems to be well founded so there is that. Nothing wrong with confidence that comes from true talent.

This main premise of the book is kind of like a reverse heist where the main character is trying to prevent the heist instead actually doing the heist which made it unique in my opinion.

Worth a read and something different in the reverse harem genre.

Okay, quick little series review here.
This series sucked me in and I became addicted quick. It is an interesting world full of lots of supernaturals. I also love when the FMC is super smart -- which she is here. She is young though and it does come across. I think the romance was lacking for me as it didn't feel completely natural.

I do think if you're on the edge of trying this one or not you should give it a shot. I have no regrets about reading the whole series and will definitely read more by this author in the future.

Wow!

Wow! It's a slow burn but it's so good. This writer knows how to build up tension while still telling a really amazing urban fantasy. I can't wait to read more.

An intriguing start to a series - so much potential

This the first book in what I think will be a fabulous series. It’s an introduction to several characters and their magical/paranormal world. The author described this as a slow burn reverse harem, and I’d double emphasize SLOW! This first book has Laila eyeing several gorgeous men and them eyeing her right back, but not much more than a couple kisses occur and a couple of those are on the back of her hand or a cheek.

The main character, Laila I’d 19 years old and a super powerful magic-user of unknown family origins. She is intelligent, extremely confident and more comfortable in her lab than out among a lot of people. Some readers may not appreciate a female character who can seemingly do everything, but I enjoy the occasional book featuring a powerful, capable female kicking tushies and taking names. It’s a nice balance for all the other books I read where the female characters aren’t like this.
