Excellent ending to the series. I read it extra slow because I didn't want it to end. While I am satisfied with how it turned out, I do wish there had been more of the dragons from the other books. Also, a few of the battles were skipped over and there was a subplot early on that went nowhere. But really, I don't read these books for the action or the overall plot, I read them because of the relationship between Temeraire and Laurence, and for the wonderful interactions of all the dragons with each other. And this novel does not fail on that. It is just as delightful as all the rest. And after nine books, I can understand why Novik might want to skip writing another battle or two.

This was an excellent conclusion to the series. This was such an interesting concept and I think the author did such a masterful job of building a realistic vision of how the world would have worked and developed had we had dragons.

Beautiful relationship between Temeraire and Laurence. The character development was perfection. I love long series like these especially bc there, if done correctly, there is such a noticeable difference in the story and characters from beginning to the end and I love going through that journey with them.

I noted that the end battles tended to be more of a tell rather than show. But honestly, there were so many battles throughout this whole series that I don't feel much loss. But I can definitely see how some folks could take issue with that.

I can't believe Laurence and Tharkay basically flew off into the sunset together what 😭😭😭 i never could have hoped but it happened as;dlkfja;slkdjf

Sad to finish this series. It has kept me reading nonstop since the end of January and I’ve recommended it to pretty much anyone who will stand still long enough.
Giving it 5 stars for the series, and the conclusion was good … but it wasn’t grand. I think she could have gone bigger with the finale. But I don’t have any actual complaints about how things turned out. No surprises, but no disappointments, either.
Gah, I love Laurence and Temeraire and Granby and Iskierka and Jane and really pretty much every character — human or otherwise — in this. And it had a good underlying message too — not as robust as in The Scholomance series, but enough to give it a little more substance than it would have otherwise.

I think it’s fair to say this was a satisfying conclusion to the series.  She left it open enough, should she wish to revisit the world of Temeraire and add to his adventures, but if she doesn’t - I’m good with this ending.  #2024grannysquarebookcovers

This was a baffling conclusion to a book series that has been a bit of a rollercoaster. Mostly, I have been disappointed by the absence of the vast majority of the characters that you spent so many books being invested in. In fact almost all of them got no conclusion at all. This story at least had a few more events than some of the others, but I'm not sorry to see the end of it for now. Simon Vance is still a brilliant audiobook reader though.

A good ending to the series! The final battles were well written and I really enjoyed the end with Temeraire.
