The two John’s and how to make sure you keep honing your craft. The relentless pursuit of chasing fame or knowledge.

I’m not into video games but I really loved this story. What it takes to create great things, what was it like to venture into untapped markets in the 90s, the Wild West - all that told in an engaging and gripping way. It was entertaining and veeeery interesting.

Really well-told. Super interesting non-fiction. Now that it's 15 years on, though, I'm missing all the deets on what happened next!

Am immensely readable book! Non fiction game development could be pretty boring, but Kushner does a great job of bringing the two Johns to life on the page.
Gosh these seem like incredibly toxic places to work. Seeing how Id imploded and how neither John could ever really reach the same heights alone is interesting.
There's a perverse joy to be had in seeing people's efforts and reactions to games that simply aren't that impressive anymore, but this book is a good time and is a good length.

Pleasant to read, a bit too much on the narrative side than I'd hoped.
