okay okay okay I have so many thoughts.

I am ultimately giving this book a 3 start MOSTLY because I didn't care about half of the content. This series is one of my favorite of all time, but I'm not going to lie...I don't care about Nesryn. Like at all. In the future I'll likely do a reread and I might like her more then, but for now, no. After having gone a whole book without hearing from Chaol or Nesryn, and not knowing much about her to being with, this was too much of her perspective for me.

With that, I have always loved Chaol and rooted for his redemption arc and this did not disappoint. I love love love his story and how he developed throughout this book.

I love Yrene and her personality. I wish there were more characters of color in the series and don't get why there aren't more added earlier on.

The truths that are shared about Lysandra, Maeve, and all the Valg stuff are sooo good!! I was shocked.

A few other qualms I have with this book is that it feel like a different series altogether. With the entirely new universe of Antica and the khangans, it was quite a lot of names and things to learn that it felt too disconnected from the other books.

**SPOILER**

I thought that by Chaol developing a new love interest that Nesryn might be killed off, so I'm at least glad that she didn't die.

Really wasn’t sure about this book at first since I knew it was going to focus so much on Chaol, but I ended up really loving it. The characters introduced in this book were easy to fall in love with and the story had many exciting twists and turns. Sarah has done a great job (yet again) of telling the story in a way that makes it’s hard to put the book down. Can’t wait to read Kingdom of Ash!
