The beginning of this book dragged but it got better as it went. I did the tandem read (reading at the same time as Empire of Storms) and that helped a lot. I probably wouldn’t have finished this as quickly if it was all Chaol and Nesryn.

Although failed at my tandem read, I still suggest that you attempt it. It was difficult to balance and ultimately reading TOD was a bit of a struggle at times. The accelerated world building was difficult to process in contrast of the other continent having many books to develop the ins and outs.

The last third of TOD captivated me, the sudden discoveries and the connection between the books held me unable to put my book down until I finished it. The pieces are all set in place for a grand finale that will undoubtedly leave me wrecked and in tears. And I cannot wait.

What a wonderful book. I really enjoyed my time in Antica with Chaol. The royal family of the Khaganate, especially Sartaq, were some of my favorite characters to get to know in the series. The court intrigue, the goings on if the Torre Cesme, the lurking evil, the Ruk riders, and the personal journey of healing are all part of what makes this book one of my favorites of the series.

Author could not decide if her BIPOC characters were BIPOC. There is some ableism and prejudice in the writing. Chaol was one of my favorites so I was excited for his book. Mixed on my feelings for it. The constant changing of villains is overdone at this point.

slower than the other books and less interesting, i wish it had been shorter because it felt so long for no reason. i really loved all our main characters and the reveals in this book, i can’t wait for Kingdom of Ash!!

Chaol who? This is Nesryn’s book and everyone else is simply side characters, I said what I said

I will say, this book surprised me! It adds sooo much to this beautiful world, though I will admit, it took me some time getting into, however it was definitely worth it!
I’m excited for KoA now!
