The only thing stopping me from giving this book five stars is the beginning is so boring. I found myself having to push myself to read all of this. Especially the beginning, it's pretty much all of the first book over again. Isolde's troubles, remembering her past trying to stop the war from happening. It only really got good when Isolde was in that mercenary camp. Because that was different. Isolde pretty much has stayed a one dimensional character which is very disappointing. Her thoughts don't really change all that often, until the moment she confessed her love for Tristian and she changed a little bit. I'm happy that they did get married though. I want to see the repercussions of it from Madoc who was trying to confess his love and marry Isolde in the beginning of the book. But I'm gonna put off reading the last book for a while. Because I have a feeling even though it's the climax of the story the first part is just going to be boring.

Beautifully written. A little more of a romantic aspect to it than I normally like, but it's balanced out by some good adventure. Isolde is also an impressive character for a woman of that time period. If you're looking for a historical fiction novel with a strong female lead, this trilogy is a good choice.

Compelling story, but took me a long time to get into it. Also, because these books are so complex I had a hard time remembering what happened in Twilight of Avalon. Good, but know your Arthurian history going in, it will help out a lot. Also sightly unfortunate how similar the titles are to another, very famous series.

This book is a very adult rendition of the Tristan and Isolde/Camalot story. I loved the gritty, realistic details, and how feminine (but not useless) Isolde came across as.

Gorgeous. Right up there with Mary Stewart in the realm of Arthurian fiction.
