While the story itself is one I found very interesting and provided a very needed perspective, as a novel Mornings in Jenin has many rough edges. The timeskips and constant switching between 3rd person, omniscient, and 1st person could be very jarring.
I'd say give the book a try if you're willing to overlook some messy pacing and confusing writing choices.

It was very good and very impactful, however I was not in a stable enough mental state to handle the heavy content and vivid imagery of the violence.

Great and powerful story. Some stylistic things I would have preferred different such as the POV switches. I also felt like the time jumps could have been handled better but overall a fantastic book and would recommend. I learned a lot from this book.

If you're looking for a book that will make you cry every time you pick it up, I highly recommend this one.

While there are many tragedies and losses woven throughout the story, there’s also an abundance of love, which beautifully highlights the humanity of the characters. Susan Abulhawa’s writing is powerful, bringing both the pain and the resilience of the characters. It’s also lyrical, making the book not only a moving read but also a literary experience that lingers with you long after you’ve finished.

This book read so easily, I enjoyed the audiobook. Even as a fiction it felt like it could just as easily be a nonfiction story. Such a good and important story.
