Personally liked Tella’s story / character more than Scarlett’s, except for the fact that her nickname is Tella. A bit faster in pace from Caraval and more suspense/mysteries/over-lapping plot lines.

Interested to see if the third book will explain how/why Tella is Jacks’s one true love. Dante as Legend wasn’t a massive surprise but Garber did a good job with keeping his identity ambiguous/making me not 100% sure it was Dante. Dante as the lost heir though was predictable. As soon as he explained the meaning behind the ship tattoo I knew it was him.

I liked it but I wasn't as invested as I was in the first book.

The last few chapters?!? I'm excited to see what will come next.

I like Tella as a character more than Scarlett, but I feel like the magic of Caraval was not as prominent in this story. It doesn’t have second book syndrome though! In fact, I feel like this book ramps up the stakes for the last book! It still has a sinister magic vibe to it, and I really like the introduction of Jacks as a character and where the story goes. I think I like this one more than the first book.
