A little too much added sugar for me, but the illustrations are lovely. I did enjoy that "ROAR!"

Prose is rather simple, illustrations are effectively emotional and deeply atmospheric. I think it did touch my inner child a bit.

Beautiful illustrations.
Sweet book to use for theme - being brave.

Beautiful illustrations. Was a bit confused in parts about how the illustrations were matching the story, but it comes together in the end. Themes of bravery, facing fears, and finding courage as well as imaginative play. Could be a good pairing with other stories about being afraid of the dark/monsters.

I think I expected something more from a book that plays on a historical figure.

A boy learns to confront his fears. With his lion friend. Disappointing lack of monster sightings, according to my nephew.

Beautiful to look at, but the story is lacking. I would rather a pre-reader make up their own story to go along with the pictures.

This story made me reminisce for stories such as, "Where the Wild Things Are" and "My Father's Dragon." Magnificent display of imagination through illustration and storytelling.
