It's a really well written sci-fi book but it feels like some things are out of place. We're supposed to deeply care about characters we've just met, but it just comes across as their characterization.
It feels like there were more chapters that just didn't make the final cut.
There's also the distinct feeling the ending was supposed to be different but that might just be my bias.
I do actually recommend this book, but be warned that it might mess with your expectations.
