Hmm. Interesting concepts and a potentially intriguing plot but it's let down by a pantomime villain and characters taking actions that make no sense but are required to move the plot forward. The writing style is very readable though so I'm tempted to pick up the sequels later in the year, or maybe the more recent novel Deakenfield, to see how the author has developed.
