This was a book club pick since we read book 1. I liked this one more than the first one because the twist was more shocking.
Thriller/suspense are not currently my favorite but I did enjoy this one. The third person (I think?) point of view is hard for me to follow.. I prefer dual point of view but it didn’t hurt the book. It’s just a preference. Plus I think dual point of view may have made this more of a romance because then we would have gotten the points of view of Sam and Kimberley.
If there isn’t a third book where Sam and Kimberley FINALLY get together… I’ll be disappointed. All the little actions and things he said to her.. just made me melt! Team Sam+Kimberley. They reminded me of Benson and Stabler from Law and Order SVU.. with the will they won’t they kiss/get together.. I get that it’s not a romance book but their little connection in the background was fun to read.

I thought this was the first book I’d read from this author but then I discovered she also wrote The Perfect Marriage which I enjoyed. As usual, I read the second book in a series first but I will be going back to read the first one asap. I really enjoyed this book and it has some great characters. I loved Kimberley and the chemistry and tension between her and Sam added some lightness to the hunt for a child killer. The book flows perfectly and I was hooked. I had no idea who the bad guy was and was kept guessing until the explosive and dramatic ending. I hope we get to see more from this duo. I received a copy of the ebook via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
