Really amazing book. Her memory is honestly impressive. Please read the content warnings before reading, there’s a lot of heavy stuff.

I find it very admirable that McCurdy has done enough work towards her recovery that she is able to write and reflect about the abuse she experienced at the hands of her mother, other family members, and the Hollywood studio system in such an honest and matter of fact way. I listened to the audiobook, and hearing McCurdy read through her experience was engrossing and powerful. A heavy read and also one that makes you think about all of the systems that enabled so many people to take advantage of her for so long and the amount of perseverance it takes to get to recovery from that.
