This was one of my most anticipated books, and it did not disappoint. It gave me a new appreciation for everything people in the entertainment industry have to go through.

Before anything else, I highly recommend looking at the trigger warnings if you have not already. McCurdy can get very explicit with her descriptions and the book is full of topics that are not easy to get through.

This book is only the second memoir I’ve read, so if that is at all important take my review with a grand of salt. That being said I really liked the book. I don’t usually go for nonfiction but as someone who grew up watching iCarly, McCurdy speaking about her life immediately interested me. The chapters are usually about 3 pages long, which was originally a turn off for me but ended up really liking because it was just so easy to read one more chapter. I loved the way McCurdy wrote from her perspective during the events of her life rather than than writing in hindsight. I think it helped to convoy her relationship with her mother, food, and alcohol in away that  could be understood by people who have not had those experiences. Also, McCurdy is genuinely funny. I hardly ever laugh out loud when I ready but I found myself cracking up several times despite the heavy topics of the book.

I’d defiantly recommend this book if you think you could handle its heavy topics.
