Loved this book but the blurb on the front is misleading. The whole shtick is that you can’t change anything by sitting in the chair.

A heart wrenching but beautiful book about the relationships between people. I would rate it higher but the age difference ( 17 to 20 ) between the couple owning the cafe when they started dating makes me uncomfortable so take that into consideration.

This is a beautiful read that had me hypnotized from the beginning.  Each of the four stories pulled at my heart strings, particularly the last one where I ugly cried to the end!  I love the underlying message of accepting the past and valuing relationships, it really is relatable.  I usually enjoy a happy ending but it somehow wouldn't have been appropriate, the end was perfectly emotional.  This book is definitely up there as one of my favourite books of all time.

What an extraordinary book!
This book is divided up into 4 parts. There are no chapters.
It's written by a Japanese writer who I had not heard of before. It was originally a play but was later turned into a book. It may be being made into television series.

It's an odd read but worth the effort.
I started reading this book, but gave up half way through the first Part. The story didn't gell with me and it was meandering and getting nowhere.

I put it down, but picked it up again a while later and decided to try and stick with it this time.
And I am glad I did.

Part one does drag a bit and didn't affect me much. It made me feel happy at the end though.

Part three has a good outcome.

Parts two and four made me ugly cry. So beautifully written. For different reasons, they affected me greatly.

The first part maybe drags as the author needs to explain the story to the reader?
The rules suddenly changing in Part four was a bit annoying, but I get it. It just felt clumsy.

It's not a perfect book and it has it's faults, but it's a stunning, original book.
It will stay with me for a while I think.
I'm glad I finished it.

I expected this books to have a little more oomph than it truly did. The time travel aspect is why I expected it, but in reality the motivations of the characters didn't grab me. It is a love story for all the characters in some sense (family love, romantic love, friendship love) but the stakes were not high enough for me to feel it was worth me finishing to find out its conclusion.
