Kneading the romantic base of its story and sprinkling it with screwball toppings, this second omnibus volume of Princess Jellyfish is an example of a story coming into its own. While the slapstick and character reactions are extravagant, a clear boundary is placed on its story to only allow such influential energy to its actual plot to be minimal at best. Akiko Higashimura ensures that these characters are worthy of our attention and sympathy, earning our desire to go along for the ride.

A fun comedy featuring nerdy women, this manga was exactly my taste. The artwork is beautiful. The story is funny and touching. The translation notes at the back of the book are very helpful in giving additional information.

“Even though I made her into a princess with a magic spell, the wizard can't become the prince. Is it like that? In other words, the magic's to blame!! Or something like that!?”

I can't even properly describe how good this series is, and it just keeps getting better! There's so much drama, misunderstandings, and a complete lack of awareness in regards to their own feelings, and even though these things have been done to death, Akiko Higashimura manages to make it feel fresh and exciting. I just can't wait to continue on in this series, especially after that cliffhanger!
