A second grader gave this book the ultimate endorsement:
'Teacher, this book made me feel very powerful.'
What a glorious thing for a book to do - to help a student feel his own agency to improve the world.

Childrens picture book of someone I was not familiar. Planting trees seems to be a repeated answer to a number of questions. This one is about a woman who Kenya who won the Novel Peace prize in 2004. A bit wordy for a picture book. But pretty art. And a clear message.

Good story about Wangari Maathai.
This book tells clearly what she did and the challenge female in Kenya had to come over to plant over 30 million trees in 13 years like run out of water.

This is a very good children's book that tells of how one woman was able to change her Kenyan home environment because of paying attention and encouraging others to participate in making their lives better. I plan to use it with my Adult ESL students in Kenya.

A great, diverse book in introducing young minds to think "prolificly" about what changes he or she can make in this world .
