Some stories were stronger and added more new background information than others, which were more like alternative-point-of-view of a scene we'd already seen. I think I was hoping for more creative perspectives than what the author provided.

I am an idiot for finishing this book in mere hours.

Loved to get a glimpse of Lyre's past!! He is such an intriguing a flirty daemon, I cannot wait read the Spell Weaver trilogy and to learn more about his past. Anf Clio.

Furthermore, I couldn't stop grinning whenever I read Ash' thoughts about Piper and how his feelings grew more and more.

Sigh. I love these books.

I appreciate that Marie made this companion book, it's a wonderful bit of fan service. The writing is of the standard readers will expect and it's always interesting to get another vantage point on a scene.

The rating is middling because a lot of the scenes Marie chose to revisit weren't ones I was curious about. Still worth a read, but my perspective is that this a missed opportunity to shed insight on different scenes than those chosen.

I'm just addicted to this series and will always want more from Piper, Ash, and Lyre. I liked the insight we get into Ash and Lyre's history - their friendship, their families, their pasts in Asphodel. I alwasys love seeing Zwi, and I thought it was cool to see how her bond with Ash works. Seeing Lyre's spell weaving being showcased was a nice nod to what I know will be highlighted futher in the Spell Weaver series. I'm even more excited to read the sequel series when it gets here!

5 Stars.

Annette Marie has singlehandedly made 2020 a much more bearable year for me. Even though these books have been published for years, I didn't discover her until now and I am just happily binging my way through her backlist.

I cannot be any more serious when I say: I loved everything about this book. From Zwi's thoughts to Ash's inner musings to Lyre's unexpectedly-kickass abilities, I was just floating in a bubble of awe.

And that extended ending scene??? Perfection I tell you. Now we don't have to freak out over the ambiguous ending (tbh I liked the original ending but I know a lot of people were not happy).

I haven't read the Spell Weaver trilogy yet and I can't wait to dive into Lyre and Clio's story. I read the prologue and holy shit my excitement is through the roof but I'm forcing myself to read a few other books first so I don't overdo it.

Annette Marie ily stay safe and take care

It was interesting to have different perspectives, but I don’t see the point of not including the chapters where they belong.

I really enjoyed the series, but I didn't find what I was looking for in this companion collection.

I’d forgotten how much I loathed Lyre at the start of the series. He grew on me. This was fine.
