Absolutely stellar Spidey book. I'm glad that with Zdarsky no longer on Spectacular Spider-man, someone has taken up the mantle of wild but heartfelt Spidey stories.

Gorgeous art with a thrilling 1st arc introducing us to the neighborhood and a cast of new and returning characters. It ended with 2 very emotional stories, so have Kleenex handy.

I've been lukewarm on Spider-Man for a while. Slott's run, including Superior Spider-Man, was too silver agey for my taste, and Nick Spencer's run has been ... fine. But there's more heart in this storyarc by Tom Taylor than I've encountered since the early days of [b:Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Vol. 1|3145384|Spider-Man Brand New Day, Vol. 1|Dan Slott|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1505583862i/3145384._SY75_.jpg|3176858].

I recommend any Spider-Man reader flip through this volume and see if it's to your taste. I think it's more than worth the time.

It would hurt to give this 4 stars because of the immense amount of great wholesome Spidey stories, but the underground NY bit was NOT it

This was a fantastic read. The art was up and down but I loved the storytelling and the premise of the series. Hoping the series stays around and keeps its focus.

The focus is on the characters, NYC, the individual, local trouble as opposed to huge galactic villains.

It reminds me of Web of Spider-Man from 20-30 years ago.

This is the lighter side of Spider-Man... until it isn’t. But it’s just amazingly well-constructed, has genuine humor and real heart.

One line made laugh out loud:
Spoiler
“Stilt-Man was behind all this?”
“Yeah, why?”
“He has the proportional abilities of a man with a convenient ladder.”
