5.0

The first time I read this book, I gave it 3.5 stars. So, it's very surprising that now, having read it for the second time, I love it! I think the problem was that the first time I picked it up, I expected romance to be the only focus of the book and was disappointed when I saw that it wasn't. This time, however, I approached it expecting to notice Jane Austen's satire and the experience was by far more pleasant!
Obviously, I cared a lot for the romance, but the side characters are interesting and the way Austen portrays them makes the book funny. I like how ridiculous some characters are, how Austen portrays them and their vanity in a satirical way.  Plus, I know that Mary is annoying but, for some reason, I really like her. I believe it's ridiculously funny how much of a drama queen she is.
I also think that it was really sad seeing how Anne viewed herself as someone whose melancholia could stain everything that was light. Another reason why I gave 5 stars to this book is Anne Elliot.
