cousinrachel's review against another edition
DNF. It’s like the average chick-fic romance, but with a literary feel. Bored, neglected wife and mom meets a fantasy man with unrealistic sexual prowess. Falls in love with him within two days and it’s the affair of a lifetime. He’s a “graceful, hardened male animal,” the ultimate free-spirited, independent alpha Chad who exists to make her life more exciting.
I heard of this and was into the idea because finally, here’s a couple where the woman is over forty. Turns out she’s middle-aged to appeal to bored women in that range who want an exciting boyfriend. Meanwhile, the somewhat elevated writing style makes readers feel it’s more highbrow than the usual housewife-meets-Chad novel.
Oh, and this guy is so hyper-intellectual that his mental activity makes him orgasm. Yes, it actually says this.
Is it any coincidence that this dude and the author are both named Robert?
