Didn't go in the direction I expected, but still good. An interesting social commentary.

I’m not sure I want to give this a rating or will be giving this a rating. Largely because I never feel certain enough about my feelings when I read such a short work. For what it’s worth, I don’t have particularly strong feelings about this, but it was an interesting, quick read, and although perhaps a retread of moral dilemmas I’ve seen many times, it was an intriguing tale nonetheless.

I would definitely recommend it as an audiobook, though! Definitely added some extra layers onto the characters, the narrator did an excellent job.

The following spoiler text does not contain any actual spoilers, but if you have merely read the goodreads description and are interested & aren’t aware what this has been compared to, I would recommend not reading it, because I think it’s better to go into it without being aware of that.

Spoiler
I added this to my TBR ages ago and when looking for a short read, this was available on audiobook, and I picked it up. I forgot that this was Black Mirror-esque, so when the true nature of the test was revealed, I was actually a bit surprised. It was definitely an interesting read, I agree that it’s got Black Mirror, Twilight Zone vibes. If you like those, you’ll likely enjoy this, although if you’re like me and have consumed lots of media in that vein, I’m not certain it will be treading new ground.

This was my wildcard book and it was a wild one. Bizarre concept - psychological principles, citizenship test and a man named Deep. So strange.

This book was a bit too far off for me. A special kind of citizenship test taken to a different, disturbing level.

Holy fuck. A short, sharp, terrifying work that feels far too possible.

The Test is very short but engaging, the less you know the better!
