Sara Shepard's M.O. is "let's serve nothing throughout the whole novel and add a random murder/traumatic event at the end every time" and it shows.  I'm also still having issues with the use of harmful, fatphobic language and the use of the r word as an insult/slur was not it. Sara Shepard's view of those in mental health facilities was also not great - perpetuating the stereotype that all those seeking help with their mental health are "crazy" was eye-rolling to say the least. Although the last cliffhanger in "Killer" kept me interested, the big reveal
Jenna being murdered
at the end of this one did nothing for me - I've just... stopped caring? I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm not sure why this series is as long as it is - the novelty of this series has definitely worn off for me.

While some of the plot is over the top and dramatic, it was still rather entertaining to read.  Though it is almost funny how much bad luck everyone in these books have.  Lots of things happen in this book like Hanna going to a mental facility, Spencer’s parents being nice for a once… at least for a little bit, Emily going undercover and pretending to be Amish, and Aria trying to go on a ghost hunt for Ali.
