The premise of this book was very interesting but it just didn't do it for me. There wasn't anything about it that wowed me and I felt like every twist had been done before.

The brother isn't dead. The radioactive area is actually safe and where the rebels are. The girl who fell into being chosen isn't alone in her specialness.

And I'm not sure if the whole red/silver thing is supposed to be a metaphor but if it was... It was poorly executed.

knocked off half a star for predictability, though it was still exciting

One of my favourite books - had me laughing and crying through the whole series. Would recommend to anyone who likes fantasy mixed with a form of plutocracy (the rich rule over the poor).

Good concept (if a bit tried), mid execution. It feels like you get too much too fast. Personally, it felt like the events of the whole book occurred within the span of a week, instead of however long it actually took. Mare joins the revolution and "kills" it all in one week. It's good trashy, 2010s YA dystopia though, I guess. I can see why it got popular

I quite enjoyed this book, I liked the ending and the different powers and stuff was really interesting. I liked the representation of the different sides of social status and the difference of treatment of the Reds and Silvers.
I'm so glad that there are more people like Mare and that Shade is still alive

Good book. There is no Epic romance in this one fyi (maybe a later one?!) slight cliff hanger ending makes me glad the series is complete. Lol.

this was a fun read and i’m excited to read not only the other books in the series but more by the author. the main character isn’t annoying, there are little plot twists everywhere. but i do have to say the ending was a bit disappointing, it wasn’t as intense as it should’ve been and i find that common throughout the book. moments that should’ve been tense or suspenseful we’re lacking , and so was the world building. it was so inconsistent. how do motorcycles, color tv screens , cameras and underground trains exist in this universe but they still send letters and talk like their from the 1800’s but also still have balls but then wear boots and jeans occasionally? i wish it made more sense because then maybe the book wouldve been a better read, i hope the other books are less disappointing.
