The easiest five-star rating I’ve ever given.
Please don’t let my read time fool you— this book is an absolute cracker. Every sentence, every paragraph, and every page will keep you hooked. My heart went through a rollercoaster, no joke. There were moments of happiness, moments where I teared up, moments where my blood boiled, and moments where I found myself understanding Walter’s frustration
😄

I can’t say anything about the accuracy on the science front, but as a “layman”, I didn’t find the science overwhelming in the text.
The only one thing that I was disappointed by was the one thing not even related to the story; it was one of the versions of the cover— you’ll know which one I’m talking about with this quote: “In short, the reduction of women to something less than men, and the elevation of men to something more than women, is not biological: it's cultural. And it starts with two words: pink and blue.”
The other cover version of this book, the one with a lady holding up a TV, is far better.

Anyway, I love, love, love this book, and I love the characters and their friendships. The best thing, though? Six-Thirty ❤️

I found Elizabeth to be pretentious and boring, which made it hard to want to continue reading the book.

Absolutely loved this. Started to listen to have something light and fun to enjoy between podcasts and found myself wanting to listen to this over anything else. I think what stands out the most for me is the crisp, concise, and just-playful-enough writing, a master class in omniscient narration. I loved the characters, which the author has developed with care and complexity and whom I feel like I know. I have such affection for so many of the characters—I started to list them and there were too many—and will be thinking about this book for a long time.

I found this to be very fun and enjoyable.  An great read!  As a woman who also studied and works in the field of Chemistry I found this very relatable and I am thankful that I did not have to experience the difficulties the main character did.  We have come a long way in accepting women in STEM fields of work but we have a way to go.
