Honestly this has got to be one of the best short stories I’ve ever read. I love the Princess and the frog and the frog Prince movie and this book was just the perfect retelling with those vibes. I loved the romance. I loved the challenges. I loved the writing. It’s a short stories yet it didn’t feel rushed while covered everything I’d want it to. Easy 5 stars. I can’t wait to read more from this author!

I was skeptical about this story at the beginning, but it ended up being such a sweet friends-to-romance twist on The Frog Prince that I quite enjoyed it.

this short story and retelling of the frog prince was so cute and adorable! I found it predictable but I’m still glad I read this:)

Short and sweet fairy tale retelling

This was a lovely story. Hanna does not disappoint in her ability to tell a fairy tale creatively and sweetly. I have loved all of the books in the series and I always look forward to reading more of her books.

I enjoyed the other two stories I've read in this world, but this one was quite predictable and I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I did the others. There were some cute details, but it fell short of the quality I've found in the other books. I realize it's just a short story/novella, but there wasn't really any character development, the frog's identity was barely a mystery, and a kiss to break the spell played out exactly on beat for a summary of the basic story. I've really enjoyed the characters and world in the other books and wish this had been the same clever retelling that they've been.

Cute novella

I had no idea when I bought this that it was so short, but it was such a cute story and I loved the imagination that went into it. I'm going to share it with my 13 year old. It was clean enough for me to recommend to her.

This was exactly what I needed.

I was totally in a funk and not sure what to read until I found this one. I loved the twist to your regular frog prince story. Add in a bachelorette twist and I was a goner. The only reason I gave it four stars was because the ending seemed to come suddenly and I wish I got more answers. I’m still happy I read it! This story could have been a novel it was that good.

This was the cutest short story I've ever read.

The Lily Gate is a short and sweet retelling of The Frog Prince. While I don't think I've ever read the original fairytale, I think the majority of us are aware with the general gist of it. The version I know of this story is Disney's The Princess and the Frog, and there were a couple of little nods to it that I really enjoyed. My heart is full of fuzzy warm feelings, and I adored the Easter eggs connected to [b:The Rose Gate: A Retelling of Beauty and the Beast|45557169|The Rose Gate A Retelling of Beauty and the Beast (Faerie Tale Romances #1)|Hanna Sandvig|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1557270818l/45557169._SY75_.jpg|70328090] and [b:The Wolf Gate: A Retelling of Little Red Riding Hood|54875813|The Wolf Gate A Retelling of Little Red Riding Hood (Faerie Tale Romances #1.5)|Hanna Sandvig|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1597159746l/54875813._SY75_.jpg|85630447]!

Again, this is a standalone, so you don't need the previous books in the series to understand this. If you're looking for a nice short story to add to your reading goal while you're waiting for your next big book to come out, this is a good option. That being said, I do encourage you to read the other books in the series because they're the sweetest, most adorable fairytale retellings I've ever read. If you have children who love fairy tales, they're a good read to share with them. If you're simply someone who loves romantic stories with a fairy tale twist like me, then this is also a good series to pick up.

This was an adorable novella! It is part of the Faerie Tale Romance series and based on the Frog Prince. I think Frog Prince retellings are always so cute, the getting to know someone who is unexpected and maybe misseen, then the falling in love! Sigh! This one is a mix of modern world and fairytale magic. Tuala is looking for love, her godmother foresaw that through a competition she would find her co-ruler and future husband. The appearance of a frog who becomes her secret eyes and ears throws her off a bit, but she quickly finds herself enjoying his company. As the competition continues, who will come out the victor? Will Tuala truly find love?
Like I said before this was so cute! I thought it was cool how it incorporated a sort of reverse Princess and the Pea vibe too. I liked watching Tuala trying to figure out what she was looking for and who was right for her. She was relatable and I felt like if I met her we would totally be friends! She was sweet and could bake amazingly. I read this novella last after the Rose Gate and the Wolf Gate. It was cool to see the connection threads from each of those books into this one. I would so recommend this! It is part of a series, so I would personally suggest reading Ms. Sandivg’s other books first, which are also amazing! It is the perfect little story for these rainy days!
