Better than the first volume, but I guess I'm just not into reimaginings. This was neat, but not great. There was a bit more depth in this volume, so I'm hoping 3 will be better. Though I do feel like the only reason Griffin betrayed his team was just so Hyde would have an excuse to colorfully murder him. He had no motivation to work with the invaders.

Completed the main League story.  Not interested in reading the supplementary material at this time.

I just couldn't get into this War-of-the-Worlds story.

Similar to my review of the first volume, but rating this one lower because (1) the scene where (spoilers) Hyde rapes Griffin to death genuinely made me feel sick, and (2) the almanac material was a slog for me.

Mr Hyde is just about one of the most lecherous and awful (in behaviour) characters you could ever wish to meet, but he really is the driving force behind this particular volume. I feel as though without him being included as heavily, I wouldn’t have enjoyed this particular instalment as much.
I feel as though I preferred the first volume a lot more, although the gritty, dark artwork was on full, glorious display here. I think the rough around the edges style works well for these stories.

The alien invasion, War Of The Worlds style plot line was well-written. However, I found the couple of sex scenes to be rather uncomfortable reading but I do think that’s just with Moore’s humorous style. Plus the awkwardness of the age gap between the two characters involved.

I really enjoyed the dark iterations of children’s characters, abominations who lived in a forest with their creator Dr. Moreau. This was one of the highlights for me.

Overall, I feel as though I really wanted to like The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen more than I have done, but the H.G. Wells references filled me with joy. All the literacy references, from the obvious to the most obscure, are wonderful. This isn’t a bad read by any stretch.

I'm becoming a little more of an Alan Moore fan every day it seems. I loved this second part and all of it's references to 19 century adventure and sci-fi liturature. I eat stuff like this up, just having blast trying to get all the references alone. Not to mention it makes me want to read the works of the references I did not get! The art style isn't for everyone, but I found it very fitting with the often grim and harsh plot. The ending was good but ultimately left me wanting more so now the search for Century begins! Belgium isn't the best place to be if want to get your hands on Graphic Novels in their original language. Took me a year to get this one....

A great sequel which really ups the ante. The initial pages are a bit of a bore, but when things kick off it really gets wild. Hyde is easily the best character in this volume, and the book is even more packed than the first with literary references, this time even encompassing such publications as The Beano, which will only be caught by British readers of a certain age.
Great fun, darkly funny, and visually unique.
