Mouse wakes up with an idea to write a story. His story starts out well enough until his friend frog hops into the story with an exuberant flair for the dramatic. Frog's story is a hodgepodge of stories he's heard and those voices effectively silence mouse's own story. This is a good picture book about balance in friendship. Knowing when to help and how much help to offer is important in all friendships.

I liked the clever takes on the art, but for some reason this didn't ring my cute-bell the way some of the other picture books I've read recently did.

This would be an excellent book for story time!

Great book on cooperation and also how the writing process works - it ebbs and flows and changes. My favorite part though is at the end when Mouse and Frog question who the real author of the book is!

I'm going out on a limb to say that this will win the CLEL Bell for the WRITE category this year (announced in early 2016). It's perfect.

Frog is a little too exuberant and frustrates Mouse as Mouse tries to write a story. Children will relate to the friends who try to jump in and take over. Luckily, Mouse & Frog find a way to create a story together. Recommended for Grades K-2.

Wow! I really love this book! I think it fits perfectly in with the Learn like a Pirate collaboration unit that I am thinking about right now for my grades 1-2 classes.

Just adorable! I would use this in a friendship theme, or imagination theme storytime. :)
