Such a sad story! I was predicting parts of the story, but once they happened it was still sad nonetheless. This was a one day read, and I was hoping more from the ending. Still an interesting concept for the stories plot, and that is what kept me reading.

I picked this book up at a charming little book shop that didn’t really have a romance section but this looked like it might fit the bill. Woman in a terrible relationship sees a glimpse of her future with a different man? FUN! Strong female friendship? FUN! But no, friends—WRONG. So so wrong. The first couple chapters were cute and lovely and then… first we find out that the guy from the future is her best friend’s new boyfriend. That’s curious, I thought, how are they ethically going to resolve that little snafu, I wonder? So I skim ahead. We’re not. It’s all going to go to absolute shit. Her bestie gets cancer. It’s long and painful. The FMC emotionally cheats with her bestie’s man and then actually cheats (they kiss, meanwhile, her friend is literally knocking on death’s door). And then her bestie dies and the FMC and the now-widowed man have weird grief sex?! And then she flirts with a random in a bodega and the book just ends?! REALLY?!?!? Honestly f*** this book. Maybe it’s my own fault for not reading into the synopsis on the back cover more, but I feel conned and hoodwinked. Word to the wise—if you’re looking for a charming love story, this ain’t it my dudes. This ain’t it. And if you need a content warning, because books about cancer will really screw you up, here it is. Because the book certainly didn’t include one. It just slaps you in the face. This book is what made me download this app and start reading reviews before diving in. Because this was trickery and tomfoolery and I will not have that in my cozy little book-nook. Not on this day. No ma’am.

This could have been a 5⭐️ book for me, had it not been for the description. It’s a bait & switch and beneath the beautiful quality of this novel. It was unnecessary to mislead readers. I strongly encourage readers to check trigger warnings for this book before reading it and know that they are not just part of the plot but actually form the whole novel. It’s a wonderful story. Just not exactly the story sold in the official plot summary.
