Remind me why I liked this again?

Back a few years ago, I used to love this book and series. Maybe it's just that my horizons on reading have expanded, perhaps my taste changed, or it's simply just that I feel like it's such a chore to read this, but I honestly do not know why I used to like this so much.

The writing is adequate and befits my taste, but the pacing irks me. The plot is interesting yet not strongly memorable. I've read much worse, but I've also seen better.

This book is just.....WOW!!! Cornelia just has that magic touch to make this book perfect. The characters were amazing and it fit the even more amazing storyline perfectly!!!

When I read this book, I truly understood the meaning of 'I couldn't put it down'. One of my most favorite part was Maggie's aunt's library, I've always dreamt of having a library like that (But instead of preserving them so dearly, I would actually read the books).

This book is capable of dragging readers out of their boring lifestyle and into a world so unique and realistic, it sends chills down your spine.Truly one of the best books I've read in years....!!! (i wrote this when I was 13)

I found myself really enjoying this. It definitely could have been a bit shorter as some things seemed unnecessarily drawn out and repetative at points. During these times, I did find myself struggling to get into the story. Past that, though I loved the characters, the overall premise, and the plot. It was surprisingly darker than I expected for a middle grade. The way the author approached those dark things made it suitable for that age range. But because of that darkness, it also had a certain maturity to it that made it really enjoyable to read as an adult. Meggie was written really well. She felt like a twelve year old while still having that strength and independence that made a great protagonist. Dustfinger was another great character who had a lot of depth to him. I look forward to reading the next book in the series and seeing what happens with these characters going forward.

This was my 3rd time reading and 2nd as an adult. I loved it. I loved the story/world building. I love that I was so invested and hooked. The author really paints the picture and the audiobook brings it to life (pun intended)
