This just didn’t keep my attention like the previous books however Willa’s humor was still great. I love seeing her with the Abcurse brothers, but at this point I’m also looking forward to it being wrapped up because it’s feeling a little stale.emmarj's review against another edition

This one was better. I don't understand why these are rated so highly and I dislike them so greatly. This is supposed to be romance but focuses heavily on the fantasy plot. The thing is that the fantasy element, while interesting in theory, is not executed well. It has been dragged out interminably and I wonder if that was to serve the slow burn of the romance plot? But then when we get to sex scenes they are perfunctory at best. I don't get it. I'm lost.

I tend to slow down at the end of series that I am enjoying. I was worried it would be ruined but honestly it turned out good. The romance isn’t as exciting for me since I like the ‘can’t be together stage’. Lol

Heroin. That’s what this series is. It’s a highly-addictive and destructive depressant. It’s already impeding brain function and emotion regulation and it would be wise to kick this series ASAP.

Things are getting a bit better in this book in terms of intensity - a lot more relationship intensity, a lot more plot twists and reveals and a lot more overall going on. The main character continues to bug me. I just see her as this super immature, awkward, frustrating person and I can't seem to fall for her. I'm compelled to see what happens - the world and the plot keep me in the story more than the characters. Which says a lot, because I tend to be a character driven reader. I just don't love the heroine and there's too many guys for me to keep them straight. I'm taking a little break from the series, but will finish it. Each book takes me FOREVER to read though, so I'm clearly not loving them.

Truthfully, the past 4 books could have been condensed into one but thank gawd we got 4 of them because these things are an addiction I don't want to end.
