I've rather enjoyed reading Palin's diaries. The scary thing about this volume is that I can remember where I was for world events he's commenting on, what I was doing during this period, etc. Sort of like reading about another part of the story some 20 years later. Fascinating insights, as always.

I loved it. This may be my favorite of the three. It is filled to over-flow with humour and drama. The personal insights during his early travel series are wonderful and enlarge the shows and their companion books. Loved it.

I enjoyed having Michael Palin read his diaries to us as we drove (this being the audio book). And it followed on well from the Stephen Fry auto biography that we listened to before as we quite often got two accounts of the same event.
It was rather long - just under 24 hours of listening time. And 24 hours of diary reading is a lot of time. Think we'll give autobiographies and diaries a miss for a while.

Finally able to get hold of Michael Palin's 3rd diary. He is as himself, calm and collected, aware of his surroundings and wanting to make a difference in the world he lives. At the same participating in films, series and now travel shows. I have read some of his travel books, so it was very interesting to see how they start, the amount of preparation and post-editing work that goes into them until we are able to see/read the final outcome.
Recommend it to all Michael Palin's, Monty Python, and travelling fans.
